2nd Level Begins...

OK.. Its been a long time since I last posted. And by a long time, i mean a long time for me, not a long time.

The frame for the front section of the house has been done... Actually this is from about 5 days ago..

Today... They have got the floor down for the second level, and have done the frame for the balcony.

I think over the next week the top floor flame will be complete, and after the Easter break the roof will be going on.

Some floor...

Ok.. So im updating this a lot. A lot more than i thought i would. Oh well... what else am i going to do?

Anyway.. We have some floor down on the foundations at the front. They have marked out all the rooms so guessing tomorrow they will begin the frame. Things certainly appear to be happening quickly..

Frame has started...

A few photos of the frame going up. They have built the frame for the lower level on the slab, and it looks like they have started to lay the floor on the foundations at the front of the house. Hopefully tomorrow we will have a floor at the front section and the walls are marked out so we can get a good idea of how it will all look.

Its kinda strange walking around the framed area. I looked at it and thought it looks really good. Wandered out to take a photo and its bizarre to look at it and think there will be another level above that. Hard to imagine, will be good when its actually there to look at :-)

Almost a floor...

So the Chippies started today. They have the foundations for the floor at the front part of the house almost complete. Tomorrow they should be starting the frame on the slab, and the plumbing will done on Wednesday up in the foundations so then the floor boards will be able to go down shortly after that.

The first 4 photos show the foundations for the flooring, while the last photo shows the drawing on the slab for the walls and frame to be put up tomorrow. Its very quickly starting to look like a house.

Garage Finished... And Power!

Over the past couple of days the brickies have completed the garage. Just in time as the block next door is about ramp things up for their slab. I went past the block today and was excited to find 2 things.

Firstly..... We Have Power

Secondly... The garage has been completed.

Starting Monday will be the frame. Once that starts, it will start to feel like a real house, rather than just stuff happening on our block.

Bricks have started...

Its been a little slow lately waiting for the weather to clear up so the brickies could begin. Originally they were going to be at our block early last week, then the weather held up their previous job, so then it was going to be mid Friday, but in the end it was today.

Today they just completed the foundations for the front level of the house. The floor supports will sit on the bricks they have completed, and then that will allow the frame to be completed.

Tomorrow the brickies will be back to begin on the garage. As the garage is on the border of the next block, and they have their block excavated, the builder is trying to get the garage done before they really begin so that no matter what they are doing on their block, it wont effect the brickies or hold them up as they cant get access to the side.

Anyway... A couple of photos

The first photo shows the bricks close up and you can see the 2 different colors of mortar. The bottom will be underground so not really relevant. The top off white mortar is what you will see. We are extremely happy with how it looks so far. Will be interesting once a garage wall is done to get a better idea of how it will look on a larger scale.

The second photo shows the completed foundations for the top level. The bricks are even with the garage, as the top level is about 30cm higher than the garage.
