Plasters Up, Downpipes In

So stuff is continuing to happen. We have the walls plastered, and they are patching up all the holes etc at the moment. Downpipes have been put in also. A few photos of everything is below.

Upstairs Area

Charli in the hallway & the laundry with the little cabinet where all my network cabling etc will run back too.

Downpipes.

Showers in the ensuite and bathroom with the shadow boxes (or whatever they should be called) where we can keep shampoo etc. The ensuite box is the full width of the back of the shower and the back of the box will be tiled in a different colored tile.

Recessed box in the main bedroom so the powerpoint and aerial can be easily hidden behind the TV & The study looking out to the street. What a pointless photo :-)

Its been a while... but stuff is happening...

Its been a while since i last put anything up here... Things are seem to be slowing down and the changes day to day are a lot smaller than when the block and house first started.

The bricks were completed about 2 weeks ago. Good to see the bricks and weatherboard side by side. Wasn't 100% sure how they would look so its a good thing we like it :-)

Since these photos were taken, the bricks have been washed and the mortar dried so the color is more even than what is in the above photos.

We have a laundry door, which is exciting. Apparently this was a spare Cedar door, so we got it at no extra cost :-)

As our land released in our estate has no copper installed for a phoneloan, and will be the one of the first estates to be fitted for the NBN, we had to get our house wired up differently. In short, We need conduit from the front of the block to the side of the house, and then conduit from the side of our house into a locaction in the house where all networking points etc will be. We have the inside conduit ran, and will get the outer done when we dont have a big garbage skip and portaloo in the way of where they need to dig.

2 pics above show the NBN conduit. On the left is the conduit on the outside of our house, and on the right is under the staircase where all the network and TV aerial cables will run back too.

Speaking of which... have been installed today.

Both the above pics are photos of all the cables under the stairs. There are 9 TV coax cables run to different locatoins, plus 2 spare in case we ever get Foxtel downstairs, and 1 point that will run to the Aerial. In all, 12 Coax cables running back to our rack.

Networking.... There are 18 cables running to different locations in the house. As its the NBN and the internet equipment will be in this rack, this will give us the ability to patch through internet or phone line to any of the data points throughout the house.

A lot of these are probably overkill, but would rather over do it, then in a years time wish we had done something. Anywhere downstairs, which is all the kids bedrooms and a living room, would not be able to have anything extra run to it once the plaster is on the walls. Best to get in now and get everything we will ever need (hopefully) done.

We had the Evaporative cooling installed earlier, and just found out that the central heating the builder is installing is the same brand so they will be able to talk and both run off the 1 remote. We are very excited by that. It wasn't planned, it just happened to work out that way.

Electrical work is currently being put in. This should be done be very early next week, and then plasterboards will be going in on Thursday. Its all getting very very serious.

We will be in the house in less than 3 months (fingers crossed).

Bricks almost finished..

So.. Its been a while since I last updated. Things have been happening :-)

Bricks are almost finished. The final bits of the bricks should be completed tomorrow. The weatherboards are all finished, so we are very very close to lockup. Photos below...

The roof line for the stairs has been worked out and the frame has been put up. Not sure how that will affect the air conditioning vent over the stairs. Might have to have a chat to Air Conditioning Specialist :-)

This week are the electrical wiring will be done. On the weekend all the data cabling and television points will be installed, with the hope that the following week all the plaster is put up on the walls.

Scoreboard: Tosser 2, Drainpipes 0

Well... I wasnt expecting this...

Last night i went to see the progress of my house like a do nearly everyday. I pulled up and parked in the driveway of what will be our next door neighbour when the next lot of land in bellrise is released. Strangely, i saw a guy behind our house in his phone. We know the builder very well and know everything thats happening with our build and wasn't expecting to see anyone at the block. I looked around the house and noticed he had his car behind our house. I went out and asked him what he was doing and he said he was bogged. He was visiting a friend and he was going to cut down from Spectacle way to Fairvista Ave but didn't realise the drop was so big so he tried to go around behind my house and got bogged. I took his word for it, made a note of his car rego and left him to it.

The next morning there was timber and weatherboards all over the place where he had tried to get himself out and back to the road. Not only had he made a huge mess with the timber and weatherboards, but he had smashed into 2 of the drain pipes sticking out of the ground.

Aparently the neighbours behind us heard them trying to get the car out at 2:30am and again at 6am. So... This morning i went to the police station to report it. Will be interesting to see what comes of it (if anything).

So..... if you know anyone with the rego OYX 907, let him know we know what he did last Autumn.

And because i take photos of everything... Here is the genius in all his glory.

And the aftermath...

First photo is our backyard, and the second is the block on the left of ours.

One of the brickies was there today stacking bricks all around the house ready for the brickies to arrive tomorrow or Monday. That should take a week and then at that point we are pretty much at lockup.

Some more stuff..

The left side of our house has been painted and the scaffolding has been removed so we can properly see it now.

Decking is almost complete on the balcony.

Right side of the house has the boards done, with the painting happening sometime soon i guess. Not really sure when that will occur. Im guessing fairly soon as the painting has to happen before the scaffolding can be removed.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day. From the sound of it the stairs will be going in. That will be exciting to be able to walk up and get a better feel for how the stairs and our laundry which is kinda under the up stairs.

Wednesday the brickies should be starting. We originally thought the brickies would have started a week or so ago, but the weather has held them up at previous jobs. Hopefully there are no more delays. Would be nice to be at lockup soon. Still, things are moving quicker than we thought they would have when we first started building.

Weatherboards Start...

Went to the block on the weekend and Pete was there. For all those who don't know, thats Renee's brother. His a chippy so has been doing a lot of the work around the house. He was preparing the top part for the weatherboards to go up. I measured one of the windows and worked out i wanted it 13cm to the right. He happily moved it for me. Well.. he moved it, dunno about whether or not he was too happy about it :-) Anyway... That will be great as it allows us to have a bigger fridge and has the window up there perfectly centered on our kitchen bench.

First 2 photos are taken last night and show the weatherboards going up and the eaves are done.

Last photo shows the roofers were back and have put on the remaining gutters. The main reason they were there was to put the flushing on the balcony.

Things should be pretty busy over the next week. Wonderwood for the balcony was arriving this morning at 8am this morning. Weatherboards should be finished today and then they will start on the balcony.

Painters should be there in the next day or so to paint the weatherboards. They need to be painted before the scaffolding can be moved to the other side of the house.

Other rumor i hear is that brickies will be onsite later this week to start bricking.

All we need now is some nice weather.........
